Here is the zodiac as the ancient Babylonians intended it—with the dates corresponding to the times of the year that the sun is actually in each constellation’s “house”—according to the Minnesota Planetarium Society’s Parke Kunkle:

Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces: March 11-April 18.
Aries: April 18-May 13.
Taurus: May 13-June 21.
Gemini: June 21-July 20.
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.

I was born a Virgo, and because that’s the shittiest sign in the zodiac, I have long refused to believe in astrology and forbid my loved ones from believing in it, either. PORTLAND, Ore. — A pedestrian was struck by a MAX train at the North Prescott MAX Station in Portland Sunday night, according to confirmation from Multnomah County 911 Dispatch.

We have been told that the injuries to the pedestrian are minor. He or she had already been taken to a nearby hospital as of 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

KATU has a crew on the way to the scene and will bring you the latest in its 11 p.m. newscast on KATU Channel 2.

PDX Earns National Environmental Award for Long-Range Planning

We are pleased to announce that the Airport Futures project has received the 2010 Outreach, Education and Community Involvement Award from Airports Council International – North America, a trade association that represents airports across the country.

Airport Futures was a collaborative process involving the Port of Portland, the City of Portland, and the Portland-Vancouver communities to create a long-range airport master plan and city land-use plan for PDX. Over the course of more than 100 public meetings and dozens of other outreach and involvement opportunities, the three-year project featured comprehensive dialogue on planning for the future of PDX in a way that incorporates community values and integrates sustainability principles. An ongoing PDX Community Advisory Committee will keep the spirit of the work alive.

While the award was granted to the Port of Portland, Chris Corich, general manager of long-range planning, says the award really belongs to the cities of Portland and Vancouver and their residents. “Airport Futures’ success was dependent on the engagement and input of the communities surrounding and using the airport. This is recognition of the entire region’s commitment to planning for the future of PDX.”
